Is Star Trek Online wearing a red shirt?

Anyone familiar with the Star Trek series knows what happens to the “security” personnel that go on away teams wearing a red uniform shirt.  They die.  Sometimes in very interesting and funny ways but, unless you are Scotty and wearing a red shirt you die.

Over on WarCry they are reporting that, while the project isn’t cancelled Perpetual has had development duties on the game stripped from them and sent off to another developer along with the license and all art assets.  The code base, apparently, is not apart of this so whomever has picked it up is basically starting over from scratch.

It looks like it will be a considerably longer time before we get our hands on this game and hopefully this dev studio is actually experienced enough to pick up the ball and run with it.  Obviously this isn’t a big surprise to many people but thought it was worth writing about.
